About Lara

CAROLINE OMOLARA TEMITOPE AKEJU

08/06/84 – 23/04/09

Omoloara was born on the 8th of June 1984 as one of a Twin, however sadly her twin brother Jacob died in-utero at 27 weeks. Lara was born weighing just under 4ibs and was dearly loved by us all and by her friends. Although she never asked about her brother till she died, she never wanted to celebrate her birthday in any big way even though we reassured her that it was alright to do so. In her own way she missed her twin brother.

She was diagnosed with Asthma very early in her life when she was in Primary School with bad allergies and suffered from Eczema but all these did not have impact in her development.

She started Primary School at Windsor Street Primary School, attended Christian Fellowship School till 1989 then moved to Gilmour Primary School where she joined the Football Team. She was small but loved playing football. She went to Arch Bishop Blanch Secondary School (1995-2000). When she started at the Secondary School she continued to play football and also joined the Hockey Team and ran for her House Team. She won many medals and the Parents’ Association Cup at the School. She did not let her asthma prevented her from taking part in sports. From earlier on in her life, she knew what she wanted to do. She would say mum “I want to be on the Television”. She made a lot of friends while at Arch Bishop Blanch and her best friend Poonam traveled all the way from China to attend her funeral.

She decided to go to the College of Arts (Community College, Liverpool, 2000 to 2002) to study Media and Drama for her A Levels. After her studies Lara wanted to move down South to develop her Media and Television Studies and we supported her to look for University around London. She attended Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, Highwycombe (2002-2005). She shared homes with two lovely African boys and enjoyed being at the University and during their tributes at her Funeral ceremony they highlighted the impact Lara had on them. She loved Liverpool and regarded it as her home. She was always coming home nearly every two weeks from the University. Her Graduation day was the highlight of our day. As a family we were delighted to see our little Lara achieving her aims and ambitions.

After University, she decided to stay in London where she could obtain her ambition in getting a job Television. She did a lot of free lance work before she got her first break at the BEN’s Television. While at BEN, she was part of the crew that went to Ethiopia to film documentaries. Upon her success at BEN television Lara finally landed a dream job working with the internationally renowned MTV. She really enjoyed working with MTV and made a lot of friends in London where she also met her boyfriend Willard. Now in a dream Job and having met Willard Lara settled down and moved in to her own house in East London using her creativity to decorated it all by herself. She was so independent and would not allow us to do anything for her except if she needed money. She was always proud of my success in my career and was so happy when we went to the Palace to receive my OBE Award from the Queen.

Lara enjoyed travelling and has visited many places across Europe to as far as China with her friends and boyfriend Willard. We were always worried whenever she travelled but God always kept her safe for us till 2009.

In 2009, we travelled to Nigeria for her grandad’s burial. Sadly this is where Lara died of Asthmatic and Allergic reaction the night before she returned to England. Her short life has devastated everyone and her death has left a great hole in all our lives.

She was brought to her home in Liverpool and buried with her beloved brother Julius Oluwakayode at the Toxteth Cemetery, Smithdown Road. Living will never be the same without you Omolara but we will continue as a family and friends to ask God for strength for each day of our lives on this earth.

REST IN PEACE (SUNRE O) AND UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

LOVE YOU LOADS

DAD, MUM, YOUR SISTER, BROTHER AND THEIR FAMILIES.
