BREATHE EASY FOUNDATION-ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017

The Trustees have been very busy since the summer of 2016. We met in August to plan for the official Launch of the Foundation which took place on the 10th of September 2016.

The launch took place at the Bridge Chapel Centre in Liverpool with over 70 attendees. The guest speaker for the day was Dr Rosaline Garr-Consultant Paediatrician and the title of the talk was “LET’S TALK ABOUT ASTHMA”. She spoke about the cause and triggers of Asthma, and how it can be treated as well as prevented. She laid emphasis on the avoidance of the triggers and how this could reduce the morbidity and mortality rate. Her speech raised a lot of questions and views

The Chair spoke about how the Foundation started and highlighted the Foundation’s work with partners in Nigeria ( University Teaching Hospital (UCH), Ibadan and Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) , Ile- Ife). The Foundation has also been able to support some beneficiaries. The video made by one of the partner’s Director of Asthma and Chest Care Foundation- a charity organisation in Nigeria was shown to the audience which highlighted the Foundation’s partnership working with photos of Inhalers to Asthma and Chest Care Foundation/OAUTH. It was an informative day.

Two Trustees travelled to Nigeria in January 2017 to continue the work of the Foundation with our partners. On the 25th of January 2017 they joined the University Teaching Hospital Patients’ Asthma Club. There were over 80 members in this Club but approximately 40 members were at the meeting on that day. We were welcomed by Professor Ige who is the Consultant for Asthma and Chest diseases, the Matron and Club members also gave us a warm welcome. Below is one of the photos taken at the Club meeting.

Our sincere thanks to all our families, friends, Bridge Chapel congregation especially the ladies’ Growth Group who have taken BEF as their own charity and community groups for their continuous support. A big thanks to Euro Chemist for their donation of inhalers and the shops such as Dress Sense and New Image Hair Saloon (Kensington, Liverpool) which have been helping with our collection boxes. May God continue to bless you all.
